The Writing interest area is specifically designed to encourage and develop students' pre-writing and writing skills.  With the aim of providing materials that meet the needs of all students, it is critical to understand preschoolers' developmental stages of writing.  In this area, students have access to a variety of writing tools as they also strengthen fine motor and literacy skills.  Teachers must provide students with choices (variety of writing tools/media, prompts and props, etc.) in an effort to make this area engaging, meaningful, and fun.  Intentionality in materials, arrangement, and comfort of this area encourages students to visit and strengthen their independent writing skills.  The Writing interest area is an MSCS Pre-K required center.
