Social-Emotional Learning
-
Social-emotional learning is a key component of child development. Many students will be entering a classroom for the first time when they come to you. For these students, concepts such as turn-taking, sharing, and listening may not be fully developed and require constant opportunities to practice and apply these skills. Self-regulation and self-control are also key concepts that a typical preschool student must learn to master. Social-emotional learning must be imbedded throughout the instructional day. Opportunities to build social-emotional skills should be present throughout the classroom, along with strategies and mechanisms for self regulation such as the Cozy Corner.
