Dear Hawkins Mill Elementary Teachers, Staff, and Families,  

We’re proud to announce the following new school leadership appointment, which will ensure that greatness grows at every school, in every classroom, with every student, as part of an ongoing series of leadership transitions for the upcoming school year.  

Mr. Antonio Harvey serves as the proud Principal of Hawkins Mill Elementary School, where he is committed to building a culture of excellence, equity, and community. A proven turnaround leader and former Level 5 Principal, Mr. Harvey has dedicated his career to ensuring that every child has access to high-quality instruction, a safe learning environment, and the opportunity to thrive academically and socially.

With close to 30 years of experience in education, Mr. Harvey has led schools through transformational growth by focusing on Tier 1 instruction, literacy, data-driven practices, and strong family engagement. He believes that student success is anchored in high expectations, meaningful relationships, and community partnerships that empower both children and families.

Mr. Harvey earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Tennessee State University and his Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Walden University. These academic achievements reflect his commitment to lifelong learning and to developing the leadership skills necessary to support both students and educators in reaching their highest potential.

At Hawkins Mill, Principal Harvey has prioritized aligning the school with the Memphis-Shelby County Schools Academic Plan through strategies such as the “See It – Name It – Do It” protocol, instructional walkthroughs, and collaborative teacher development. He is also passionate about amplifying student voices and fostering a positive school culture through initiatives that celebrate achievement, encourage character, and promote resilience.

Beyond the school building, Mr. Harvey is the CEO of FathersFirst Memphis, a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening families by equipping fathers to be leaders in their homes, workplaces, and communities. His dual commitment to education and family empowerment reflects his personal mission: to build legacies of learning, leadership, and love.

Mr. Harvey is a devoted husband and father of two children, Nia and Noah, who inspire his work every day. His guiding philosophy is simple yet powerful: “Excellence is not an act, but a habit. What we repeatedly do becomes who we are.”
