Work Displays
-
Meaningful classroom displays create a sense of belonging and enhance children's learning. Teachers should create displays related to the current curriculum theme as well as displays that showcase students' work throughout the room. Keep students' brain development in mind when developing and displaying materials around the classroom. Research indicates that cluttered walls can create visual distractions that could potentially cause overstimulation for some students, leading to them struggling to focus on a particular task. This can also negatively impact a student's ability to learn new information. All classroom displays should be frequently updated to effectively support students' learning. Wall space is seemingly always limited, so get creative! Use the backs of shelves and other classroom furniture to gain display space. As much as possible, be sure to post all displays (particularly student work displays) at their eye level.
