Bachelor's Degree: Elementary Education- Christian Brothers University

Mrs. Olivia Malland

Welcome to first grade! I am very excited to be your child's teacher this year, and I am eager to begin our year together. I look forward to working with your child and getting to know you throughout the school year. In the meantime, here is a little information that will help you get to know me.

I'm originally from Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas. I am the oldest of four girls and proud aunt to 2 nieces and 4 nephews. I came to Memphis on a scholarship to play basketball at Christian Brothers University, where I obtained my degree and graduated with honors. I began my career as an interim kindergarten teacher at Richland Elementary before going to Peabody Elementary, where I taught the 5th grade optional class. After spending a year and a half as a fifth grade teacher, I found my way back to kindergarten, where I stayed for 14 years. As a teacher, I have been fortunate and honored to have been named Educator of the Week by News Channel 3 and previously named one of the district's then, "Irreplaceable" teachers. I am now entering my 22nd year of teaching, and this will be my 6th year teaching first grade at Richland.

When I am away from school, I am busy being mommy to Quinn, my 5-year old daughter. We love going on adventures to parks, playgrounds, and all things animal-related. I also enjoy traveling, shopping, attending various sporting events or concerts, and always cheering on my Cincinnati Bengals and Reds.
