Eighteen years ago, I joined the Richland Family as a parent to a Kindergarten student. Fast forward several years, that same student is almost 22! She will be starting her senior year in college and I am entering my fifth year as a Professional School Counselor at Richland Elementary for kindergarten, first, and second grade. I am married to Jeremy Wilkes and we have two children: Rachel (21) and Joshua (19). When you come by my office, you can see their "first day of school" pictures from 2nd grade and KK.

As a Professional School Counselor, I join with teachers, parents, and students to promote student success. School counselors provide a comprehensive program for all students. I work confidentially with students and with stakeholders implementing short-term support and interventions for students. I provide individual counseling, student check ins, small group activities, classroom guidance lessons, consultations with teachers, parents and staff, as well as 504 coordination and monitoring. Classroom lessons include topics such as making friends, accepting differences, understanding emotions, and exploring careers. Small group activities support student concerns related to emotional regulation, social skills, and academic success.
