What are graduates of Craigmont High School doing now? Our graduates are educators, college students, members of the military, law enforcement officers,etc.! Some of the colleges our students have attended include Fisk University, University of Memphis, Southern University and A&M College, Tennessee State University, Austin Peay State University, University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Middle Tennessee State University, Kentucky State University, LeMoyne-Owen College, and Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy.
Our most famous graduate is American playwright Katori Hall! Katori was our first African American valedictorian. She went on to graduate from Columbia University in 2003 with a Bachelor's degree in African-American Studies and Creative Writing. In 2005, she earned a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from American Repository Theater's Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University. Hall graduated from the Juilliard School's Lila Acheson Wallace playwriting program in 2009.
Most recently, Hall had her play developed into the television drama series P-Valley on Starz. The show has received critical acclaim and was renewed for a second season two weeks after its premiere. She serves as the series creator, showrunner, and executive producer.
Ms. Hall is currently serving as the Artistic Director at Hattiloo Theater in Memphis, where her play The Mountaintop is playing from January 21 - February 13, 2022.
