What are the school hours?
NIC's hours are 9:15-4:15.
Can I enroll my child if he or she is thirteen years old?
NIC accepts students between the ages of 14-17 who meet the following criteria:
- The student has interruptions in formal school of one or more years.
- The student has lived in the USA less than one calendar year from the enrollment date.
- The student scores less than 2.0 on the WIDA Screener test (English test).
When can I enroll my child?
NIC has daily enrollment between the hours of 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.
Do I qualify for a bus?
Yes, if the student lives 2.0 miles away from NIC, he or she qualifies for a bus. If not, the student may walk to school or the family must provide transportation to and from school.
How long does it take before the bus transports my child to school?
This varies. It can can between 1-5 days for bus transportation to start.
What is the dress code?
Students may wear jeans, khakis, navy blue or black pants or skirts. Skirts must be to the top of the knee or longer. Students can wear short or long sleeved shirts. Clothing with holes, profanity, or references to drugs, crime, violence, or sex is not allowed. Hats are not allowed inside the building. Winter coats are to be stored in the locker during school hours.
