Hello! My name is Ian McLean and I am a Specialized Education Assistant (SEA) here at Idlewild Elementary. In 2019, I received my Associates degree in Psychology from Northwest Mississippi Community College and moved to Memphis. Following this, I was granted the opportunity to work with MSCS. I primarily work in small groups using interactive plans to inspire literacy and autonomy in students academic life.
In my free time, I enjoy my time by fishing, coffee, and finding activities with friends. I am excited for the upcoming school year!

I am Dorothy Robertson an SEA (Specialized Education Assistant) at Idlewild Elementary School since September 2023. I began my educational career at Bolton High School in 2006, where I worked with the Functional Skills and later the Learning Lab. In 2015 I left Bolton and went to work for a catering company. The pandemic closed the catering business. I missed being in an academic environment, so when a position at Idlewild Elementary became available, I happily seized the opportunity to join the team. I am a billiards player, sewer, crocheter, painter, and always finding new interests to employ creative strategies.

Mr. Jonathan Duncan
Specialized Educational Assistant - Kindergarten
Hello, my name is Jonathan Duncan. This will be my third year working at Idlewild as a SEA for kindergarten and second grade. Before coming to Idlewild, I spent one year teaching and coaching in Nebraska and thirteen years at DeSoto County Schools in Mississippi. In my free time, I enjoy riding the trails in my Jeep and cheering on the Memphis Tigers.
During my sixteen years in the education system, I have been able to build strong relationships with the children and their families. For example, I was recently invited to attend a high school graduation for a child I taught ten years ago. My greatest motivation for putting my all into my work is seeing the children I work with grow up, chase their dreams, and achieve above and beyond their expectations.

I started working in education in France in the 90’s . There, I worked in both public and private
schools. During my career there, I taught mainly high school and undergraduate students. I
also wrote and illustrated several handbooks, and created curriculums and National exams.
I studied art, literature, special effects and went to engineering school to study physiology and
bio-technology. I am a published and awarded artist, had several TV appearances and
magazine articles, and I am also a French National champion in specialty makeup.
After moving to Singapore, I worked for corporate companies as an international trainer for the
South Asian region.
For more than a decade, I have been living in Memphis,TN, with my husband and daughters.
6 years ago, I joined Idlewild Elementary and Mrs. Graves’ robotics team as a coach. Each
year, our students are blossoming in successful regional competitions, and I had the honor of
receiving the award of the FLL West TN coach in 2022.
This year, I am also a Specialized Education Assistant in second grade.
I love teaching and supporting children to find their way and their strength. I am very patient
and persistent when facing a challenge.
I am proud of being part of one of the best school in Memphis.
