Degrees and Certifications:

Dr. William Shuman

I am honored to be part of the leadership team at Idlewild Elementary School. This is my 5th year at Idlewild and 6th year in a school leadership role. Prior to being an administrator, I had the privilege of teaching second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade classroom as a general education teacher. In addition, I served as a specialist teaching music for students in preschool through 12th grade. I have also worked at the collegiate level as an adjunct professor and curriculum specialist.

My undergraduate degree is from Hope College in Holland, MI in Music and History. My master's in teaching is from National Louis University in Chicago, IL and my doctorate was earned in Curriculum and Instruction at Aurora University in Aurora, IL.

At home, I enjoy spending time with my two boys, Brayden (10) and Myles (4) and my wife Kristin, who is a former music teacher. My family loves to travel, but specifically back to my hometown in the Chicagoland area. Da Bears!
