Schedule:
The Ridgeway High School Library is open from 7:00AM to 2:15PM daily. Mrs. Harris is more than willing to remain after school for students to utilize the library as long as she has no afternoon appointments or meetings. Students who need to remain after 2:15PM should come directly to the library at the ringing of the 2:15PM bell. This time will be offered for students who need to work; if you do not plan to work, you should not plan to remain after school, as this service is offered as a courtesy by Mrs. Harris. There will be times the library will be closed due to meetings or testing; please listen to morning announcements to be notified of these dates and times.
Policies:
During the school day, students must enter the library with a signed and dated agenda book or a note signed and dated by their current teacher. The only exception to this policy is the lunch periods. Visits to the library during the lunch periods are based on the honesty system. Any student taking advantage of this system, will receive disciplinary action. Students are encouraged and invited to visit the library to study, read, and use library computers. There are 35 Internet-accessible desktops available, a laser printer available, a SmartBoard available and a reading corner. A computer lab with 30 Internet-accessible desktops, a SmartBoard and a laser printer is also available. Teachers who desire to reserve the library or lab may do so by contacting Mrs. Harris by phone or email or by visiting the library to sign up on the desk calendar. Reservations are on a first come first serve basis. Mrs. Harris also maintains an online calendar for viewing so teachers may see availability.
Students are expected to abide by five simple library rules which are posted at the library entrance. The rules are as follows:
1. Speak in a conversational tone.
2. Eat and drink in the cafeteria, not the library.
3. Enter and leave the library quietly.
4. Respect classmates, teachers, and library materials.
5. Use library computers for educational purposes only.
Check Out Procedures:
- Books may be checked out for two weeks.
- Students may check out a total of two books.
- There is no fine for late books. Students who damage or lose library materials will be expected to pay the replacement cost of the materials. Progress reports and report cards may be held until library materials are returned or paid for.
- Students are asked to return books to the library book drop inside the entrance of the library.
- Books may be renewed by simply requesting Mrs. Harris to do so. The book does not have to be with the student to renew the book.
- Students are asked not to share books that are checked out to them with other students.
