UPDATE 1/29/21: At this time, all students will continue virtually for the start of the new semester.
This week is School Board Appreciation Week! We are grateful to Bishop Green for all she does for Grahamwood Elementary!
Are you a current Optional Program family?
Unlike in previous years where parents filled out a paper "renewal" and turned it in to the classroom teacher, parents may now submit their renewal through the Parent Portal – beginning January 15, 2021.
Log in to the parent portal using your parent/guardian account, select your student(s) and then fill out the form. Please note that the renewal application is required if you wish to continue in the Optional Program at Grahamwood next year.
Log on to the portal here: http://www.scsk12.org/registration/powerschoolparents.php
Once you have submitted your renewal application, it will be reviewed by the school (Optional students are required to maintain good grades - As and Bs only, conduct, and attendance).
Please email Dr. Hope or Mr. Johnson if you have any questions or concerns.

Grahamwood Elementary is an exemplary, student-centered, diverse educational community located in the heart of Memphis. Traditionally one of the most requested and sought-after schools, Grahamwood is most known for its exceptional teaching staff, strong community support, and unparalleled parent involvement.
One of the things that makes Grahamwood unique is our dual program model. Our schools offers two high-quality educational programs so as to meet the needs of our diverse student population. Our Scholars (or neighborhood) program serves students traditionally zoned to us as well as K-5 students seeking an SCS Choice Transfer. Meanwhile, our Optional Program offers enriched academics and accelerated learning options to students across the county in grades 1-5. Optional Program admission is merit based (meaning that students must test in and score at the 80th percentile or above) and occurs as part of the SCS Optional Schools Application process.
Update: 12/21: We are officially on Winter Break! We wish you all a safe and restful break and look forward to seeing you all (virtually) on January 4! Until then, here's a little treat from our hearts to yours:
In case you wonder what we do while you are not around . . .
