Andrea L. Dixon is a native of Memphis, TN, and a proud 1987 graduate of Central High School. Her background in secondary instruction and supporting and leading high schools in our District and beyond align with her belief that post-secondary readiness is tantamount to a successful future and career longevity. Equally important, Principal Dixon believes that her leadership purpose is to create positive conditions in a high-quality public school where students can acquire skills and training, certifications, and industry credentials, through hands-on training by experts in their fields, and these skills can be applied to real-world career pathways.
After teaching high school Spanish for 17 years, Principal Dixon entered the New Leaders’ Emerging Leaders Program in 2016, and the following year, Principal Dixon matriculated to the next level of leadership training, the New Leaders’ Aspiring Principals Program, where she served students and families at Melrose High School as a Resident Principal. Although Principal Dixon began her career teaching at Middle College High School, during her 26-year tenure as an educator, she has served as a teacher leader, instructional facilitator, resident principal, assistant principal, and high school principal. A lifelong learner, Principal Dixon understands the value of rigorous programs of study and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Education degree from Union University.
Most recently, Principal Dixon served as a Central Office administrator in the Division of College, Career, and Technical Education and in the Office of Schools & Leadership, working alongside the Assistant Superintendent of High Schools, to support the work of high schools in our District. She looks forward to celebrating student attainment of industry credentials and certifications, work-based learning, building productive relationships with the administrators and professional school counselors of the feeder middle and high schools, and last, but certainly not least, the opportunity to serve, to inspire, and to partner with the talented and committed staff of Trezevant Career and Technology Center, along with the families and students at our feeder high schools: Trezevant High, Raleigh-Egypt High, Craigmont High, and Manassas High.
