About the Team
-
The GHS Dance Team exists to support GHS school athletics and to accomplish the program’s own athletic and competitive goals. High school athletics and activities can enhance a student’s overall high school experience and foster lifelong friendships with peers. The coaches of this team strive to nurture its members with rigorous expectations, encouraging dancers towards high achievement in academic, dance technique, and social/emotional skills. While the commitment level is demanding, members feel a sense of pride and unity by dancing for their high school and are always amazed to see their skill level improve by the end of their season.

National Dance Team Championship:
The 2023 - 2024 GHS Dance Team won a bid to the 2024 National Dance Team Championships in Orlando, Florida!
During the summer (July 10 - July 13), the pom squad/dance team traveled to Huntsville, Alabama to participate in the Universal Dance Association (UDA) dance camp held at the University of Alabama. Team members persevered through long, hot days as they worked on individual dance skills and techniques. Dancers also learned multiple routines to be judged at the end of camp. As the team collected a multitude of blue ribbons for individual performances, it was the Team Routine Evaluation that sealed the squad's qualifying bid to Nationals!!!!

Coach Vanderford - Head Dance Coach
Coach "V"
I currently teach English II at Germantown High School, but I am also a Red Devil alumna (1994 – 1998) and a former member of the GHS Varsity Dance Team. After graduating, I attended the University of Memphis where I received a B.A. in English (Literature Concentrate) and was a member of the U of M Pom Squad (1998 – 2000). During the latter part of the undergraduate program, I became an original member of the Memphis Grizzlies Dance Team (2001 – 2007). I also coached multiple high school dance teams and all-star squads, including Desoto Central High School and The Memphis Divas.

Coach "Bria"
Hello Germantown! My name is Ambria M. Beasley, but you can call me Bria for short! I am sooo excited to be joining the G-Town family and figured I’d tell you guys a little about myself. If I look a tad bit familiar, it may be because you have seen me on the court at the FedEx Forum dancing for the best team in the NBA, the Memphis Grizzlies! I have been a Grizz Girl for 5 wonderful years, but I developed my love for dance at a much younger age, training in everything from Jazz, Ballet, Hip-hop, Pom, and just about any other style you could name. Now, outside of dancing, I am also a Labor and Delivery Nurse at one of the biggest women’s hospitals in Memphis. I have always had a passion for helping people, even more so helping women that look like me. So, what better way to support a woman than at one of the most memorable but critical moments of their life! I love my job and all the highs and lows that come with it, especially when I get to see everyone’s face after finally getting to hold that bundle of joy. Well, that was just a little snippet of my life. Now that you’ve partially gotten to know me, I’m excited about getting to know all of you guys this coming school year!
