• A. Maceo Walker Middle School offers great first teaching in all core subjects (ENGLISH/LANGUAGE ARTS, MATH, SCIENCE, & SOCIAL STUDIES). Our school also has a phenomenal SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT where students are offered enhanced educational opportunities in CLUE, INCLUSION/INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCE, ADAPTIVE FUNCTIONAL SKILLS (AFS), FUNCTIONAL SKILLS (FS), & BEHAVIOR INTERVENTION COMMUNICATION (BIC). Students who have a non-English language background are enrolled in our ESL (English As A Second Language) Program.

    A. Maceo Walker Middle School offers HONORS CLASSES in all core subjects (English/Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies) for all grade levels. Our most advanced students are placed in HONORS CLASSES.  HONORS CLASSES cover advanced material allowing more in-depth study of a topic, and may require greater independent research.

    All A. Maceo Walker Middle School students receive ACADEMIC INTERVENTION daily.

    Students work towards meeting standards prescribed by the Tennessee Department of Education. Free tutoring is offered on Tuesday for all grade levels in all core subjects. Click on the links below for more information on the Tennessee State Standards for each core subject.
