  • Announcements for May 23rd                

    • Students taking DE English should turn in their applications to Dr. Robbins in E305 and check their emails for further information. If you missed the meeting last Friday, see Dr. Robbins in E305 during your lunch today. 
    • If you are taking AP US History or AP European History for the coming year, see Mr. Stephenson for summer work.  
    • All students planning on taking AP Physics during the 2023-2024 school year, please see Ms. Cornell in room M210 for your summer work. 
    • All AP Art History students that have submitted the Writing Sample for next year have been forwarded the Summer Work via school email. See Ms. Peterson in M242 with questions. If you prefer to use another email address, please alert Ms. Petersen. 
    • All students approved for Pre-AP English 10 in the fall have been added to Teams class for the summer assignment.  Please check to make sure you can access the group before leaving for the year and contact Mr. Harrison in Room E208 if you cannot.

    • Today is the last day for announcements this year. The school would like to thank our morning announcement staff: Finn Gilbert, Grace Dillinger, Lauren Hunter, Anadi Durgam, Aniya Rouser, Morgan Johnson, Nyla Johnson, Lea Walker, Amy Zhang, Kierston Conner, Nidhi Larson, and our amazing leader Jennifer Guerrero.     • White Station placed 2nd in Division 2 of Physics Bowl in an 11-state region. We scored 102 with another school in Arizona totaling 106. A total is based on a school's five highest individual scores.

    • Final voting for the video Facebook contest is at 11am. If you have not voted yet, please talk to your teachers for the QR code in an email from Ms. Holland yesterday in order to vote or share with friends and family. Please help Key Club earn $5000 today for service projects in the Memphis community. Your vote will make a difference. 
    • The FBI is coming to White Station TODAY, so bring your curiosity and questions about their job, career pathways, psychology, cybersecurity, data analysis and more at 2:30 in the library! Ask Mr. Tingley for more details.

    • We are re-implementing a moment of silence into our announcements along with all schools district-wide.  
    • Auditions for choirs for the 23-24 school year will be held TODAY after school in the choir room (M022). These are mandatory for auditioned ensembles at White Station High. Please see Mr. Massey or Mr. Powell with any questions.  
    • WSHS Students are hosting a menstrual equity discussion TODAY till 3:30 in Mr. Tingley's room. We will be discussing period poverty and sustainability, and will have free snacks! Sign up through the QR code on Mr. Tingley's door.  
    • Graduation Lock-In tickets are being sold TODAY during lunch. Pay $45 and come May 21st from 11pm - 6am on May 22nd at Incredible Pizza on Germantown Parkway.  
    • Don’t forget to come out TOMORROW for our Spartan Spring football scrimmage. It will be in our backyard on the football practice field. Festivities start at 3pm with food for purchase, a free bouncy house for the kids, a DJ and some good football. We changed the format on the scrimmage. We will play Overton High at 5pm. Remember, festivities at 3pm; the game is at 5pm. 
    • All freshmen who will be taking pre-AP English 10 in the fall must sign for and pick up the summer assignment & contract from their current English teacher. Signed contracts should be brought to the MANDATORY meeting this Monday at 2:25 pm in the Library.

    • Congratulations to The Varsity Baseball team on winning the District Tournament with a 7 to 6 victory over Whitehaven. We would like to recognize the seniors on  great season and wish all the players much luck in the Regional tournament, next game information to be provide soon. Congratulations to Sumner Ford, Owen LIkens, Bruce Marshall, Frank Pitt and Ben Turner! our outstanding seniors! 
    • Congrats to the White Station Baseball team. They beat Whitehaven to win the District championship last night.  Great pitching performance by Sumner Ford and Magnus Swenson.  Micheal Arnold and Noah Johnson Finished the game with a Safety Squeeze.  Great night and a great team win.

    • White Station High volleyball tryouts will be held May 26 and May 31 Both days are from 3-5.  This will be a two-day tryout.  Please plan to attend both dates.  If for some reason you cannot attend, please let Mrs. Cornell or Coach Thomas know ASAP. In order to participate in tryouts, players must have all paperwork complete and in hand upon arrival at tryouts.   All physicals must be dated on or after Aril 15, 2023.  There will be NO exceptions to this policy.

The Boys finished 2nd overall, and the Girls finished 1st making them tthe new City Champions! Special Congratulations to Khari Webb and Jarryn Lowe for being named the MVPs of the meet! Sadie received first place in the State competition, with a $2,500 scholarship award, and Pragna received third place, with a $1,000 scholarship award. Sadie will go on to St Louis in July to compete in the regional competion and scholarship of $25,000.

    • This past weekend White Station's Model UN was finally able to return to a conference at Rhodes College. We had 12 awards including 3 Best delegates, Sari Richmond, Luke Hatler, and Peter Chi. 
    • Congratulations to the White Station Latin club for participating in the annual Tennessee Junior Classical League Convention in Knoxville. 12 students attended, of which 8 ranked in 20 different categories of academic competition. Highlights include: Vivian Fan was 1st in Poetry; and Vivian, along with Amy Zhang, Evan Easley, and Hadrian Graham placed 2nd in Certamen (Latin Knowledge Bowl). Vivian and Amy deserve much credit for helping make the trip happen. Thank you to all who attended and did a great job representing White Station High! Gratias tibi! 
    • The baseball team, coaches and parents would like to show our sincere appreciation to the choir for singing a very moving National Anthem at the game yesterday. All students can represent their culture by dressing up this Friday, March 24 during the day and joining us for Culture night with games, food, and performances in the evening!     • Sugarmon's US Government students are having a voter registration drive. If you turn 18 before October 5, you can register to vote. 
    • Come out for the Facing History Community Teach-in that will be held Wednesday March 29th, from 6-8pm.  Student leaders from White Station high as well as 9 other schools around the city will be facilitating sessions surrounding the idea of "normal" and how this can help us become a more inclusive community that lives up to the true essence of community.  Families are welcome and Dinner will be provided! Ask your teacher if extra credit I s available. 
    • Spartans! The spring blood drive is coming up! It will be on March 30th and you can pick up consent forms in the cafeteria during your lunch period starting today! If you are over 18 you do not need to have a consent form to donate blood. If you donate you get complimentary snacks!

    • Prom tickets of $60 per person will be sold to Seniors April 10th to 13th  during all lunches in the auditorium. Prom is May 6th at The Kent from 7-11.  Each senior is allowed to bring one guest only; however, the guest must be under 20 and not on an expulsion.     Announcements for March 9th                                                       

    • If you are interested in designing, photography, and helping display Spartan spirit, come to the Yearbook interest meeting TODAY in Mr.Pentecost’s room M239. This interest meeting will include an introduction to how our yearbook is created, experiences from yearbook students, and the application to be in the class. 
    • Key Club and the Humane Society Club are collecting canned food for cats and dogs until TODAY. Boxes will be placed in teacher classrooms. If you have any questions, ask Mrs. Kirby in M241. 
    • Spartans, get ready for Green & Gray Field Day TOMORROW 1 - 2:15 PM, which will have opportunities option to watch baseball, softball, or soccer scrimmages; a concession stand; and pouring buckets of water over the head of your favorite senior or teacher! Wristbands for $3 for admission will be sold in the cafeteria during lunches TODAY and by Coach Mac Friday morning until 7:30 AM. You will need to bring additional cash to the event for food and/or soak a senior/teacher.
