  • Announcements for March 28th   

    • For Tuesday March 28. All Sr. Insch’s classes will return to the regular class room E 201 today. DO NOT GO TO THE LIBRARY. 
    • This past weekend White Station's Model UN was finally able to return to a conference at Rhodes College. We had 12 awards including 3 Best delegates, Sari Richmond, Luke Hatler, and Peter Chi. 
    • Congratulations to the White Station Latin club for participating in the annual Tennessee Junior Classical League Convention in Knoxville. 12 students attended, of which 8 ranked in 20 different categories of academic competition. Highlights include: Vivian Fan was 1st in Poetry; and Vivian, along with Amy Zhang, Evan Easley, and Hadrian Graham placed 2nd in Certamen (Latin Knowledge Bowl). Vivian and Amy deserve much credit for helping make the trip happen. Thank you to all who attended and did a great job representing White Station High! Gratias tibi! 
    • The baseball team, coaches and parents would like to show our sincere appreciation to the choir for singing a very moving National Anthem at the game yesterday. We hope you will be willing to do it again soon! The Vasity Baseball game went on the beat Overton 11-2.  Senior Bruce Marshall had a great game throwing out three runners from behind the plate! 
    • If you have lost a thumb drive, either see Ms. Niedens in room F214 or send her an email at niedenscm@scsk12.org to identify it. The drive was found by the busses last Thursday or Friday. 
    • If you are a senior interested in Teaching and you plan on attending the University of Memphis, Ms. Harden has a scholarship opportunity for you.  The River City Scholarship offers $4500 per semester, and it pays for your books for the first school year.  If you are interested in learning more, please stop by Ms. Harden's room M217A for more information. 
    • If anyone is interested in competing in CanStruction, The Buckman Essay, or the SSR TicTok STEM Competition, please meet in Ms. Cornell's room M210, TODAY after school for 20 minutes. 
    • The University of Memphis will be here TOMORROW 2nd period in the library to talk about the next steps in the enrollment process. This is a great opportunity to have your questions answered and be ready for freshman orientation. 
    • The University of Tennessee Knoxville will be here TOMORROW 3rd period in the library to talk about next steps in the enrollment process for seniors, and preparing to apply to school and answering questions about UTK for juniors. 
    • The Facing History Community Teach-in surrounding the idea of “normal” will be held TOMORROW, from 6-8pm. Families are welcome and Dinner will be provided! Ask your teacher if extra credit is available. 
    • Spartans! The spring blood drive will be Thursday and you can pick up consent forms in the cafeteria during your lunch period starting today! If you are over 18 you do not need to have a consent form to donate blood. If you donate you get complimentary snacks!  
    • Anyone interested in trying out for the football/competitive cheer team: there will be a mandatory parent/guardian meeting this Thursday at 6 pm in the cafeteria. Hope to see you there!!

    • Congratulations to Coach Patino on being inducted into the Basketball Coaches Association of Tennessee Hall of Fame on this past Friday. Well deserved honor coach! 
    • White Station Baseball Concession Stand will open TODAY after School at 2:15 pm. The Spartans will be playing Overton at home at 4pm. The White Station Choir will be performing the National Anthem prior to the Game. We would love to see you at the field!

    • Congratulations to senior Neel Saxe who just won the Silver Medal for his still life drawing in the 2023 National Scholastic Art Awards Competition. His work was selected from hundreds of regional winners across the country. He is invited to the awards ceremony and art show at Carnegie Hall in New York this June.

    • Come out for the Facing History Community Teach-in that will be held Wednesday March 29th, from 6-8pm.  Student leaders from White Station high as well as 9 other schools around the city will be facilitating sessions surrounding the idea of "normal" and how this can help us become a more inclusive community that lives up to the true essence of community.  Families are welcome and Dinner will be provided! Ask your teacher if extra credit I s available.

    • If you are interested in designing, photography, and helping display Spartan spirit, come to the Yearbook interest meeting TODAY in Mr.Pentecost’s room M239. This interest meeting will include an introduction to how our yearbook is created, experiences from yearbook students, and the application to be in the class. 
    • Key Club and the Humane Society Club are collecting canned food for cats and dogs until TODAY. Boxes will be placed in teacher classrooms. If you have any questions, ask Mrs. Kirby in M241. 
    • Spartans, get ready for Green & Gray Field Day TOMORROW 1 - 2:15 PM, which will have opportunities option to watch baseball, softball, or soccer scrimmages; a concession stand; and pouring buckets of water over the head of your favorite senior or teacher! Wristbands for $3 for admission will be sold in the cafeteria during lunches TODAY and by Coach Mac Friday morning until 7:30 AM. You will need to bring additional cash to the event for food and/or soak a senior/teacher.

    • After a hard-fought close match, the White Station WREG Knowledge Bowl team came in 2nd this season. Señor Insch is proud of this team. They worked hard all year long and never gave up. Thank you for this season. The entire school is proud of your work.

    Announcements for March 6th                                                    

    • This is a reminder that The Scroll staff interest meeting will take place this afternoon at 2:25 in Mr. Harrison's room, E-208.  All interested rising sophomores and juniors are eligible to apply.  The meeting will only last 25 minutes. 
    • As the spring season is about to start, the baseball concessions stand will be open TODAY after school and that the teams first scrimmage will take place at 4 pm at the George C Holt field.  
    • All Juniors will be taking the ACT TOMORROW. Juniors, all you have to do is arrive to school on time and be prepared to do your best.  
    • Senior Game Day will be TOMORROW ....bring all school appropriate board games and your favorite snacks. This will be the from 7:15-11:00 while ACT testing for the juniors is going on. Wristbands for admission will be sold in the cafeteria during lunches on Wednesday March 8, Thursday March 9, and by Coach Mac during the morning of Friday March 10 until 7:30 AM. Wristbands are $3 each, and you will need to bring additional cash to the event for food and/or soak a senior/teacher. White Station won the city championship again as best overall school for 2022-23.  Aditi Arunprakash and Catherine Cheng finished 1st place, Aditi Mishra & Soumya Bandaru finished 2nd, Sofia Gosain & Srijith Jawabnavis finished 3rd, and Baribefe Kpurubu & Faith Gbeneh finished 4th overall in the whole city.  Students are moving on to national championships.

    • WSHS AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) Alliance will be hosting a Japanese event with Maika Yamaoka, the Japan Outreach Initiative Coordinator at University of Memphis & Memphis Botanic Garden, on Tuesday in Mr. Harris's room M110 from 2:30-4PM. They will be making ema and learning more about the Japanese bean-throwing festival!
    • Auditions for the Spring Musical, Grease, will be held Feb. 2 and 3. ALL STUDENTS are welcome to sign up for auditions outside Room M022! See Mr. Powell with questions.

    • The University of Memphis is once again hosting an Engineer Day to introduce students to the world of engineering. During the event, students enjoy a full day of STEM competitions, games and tours. There will be an interest - information meeting TODAY in Ms. Cornell's room (M210) after school from 2:30-3:00.

    Announcements for January 23rd                                   

    • Congratulations to the Spartan Battalion for winning the SY 2022-2023 JROTC Brigade Board Competition held on Jan 19-20, 2023.  White Station cadets competed against cadets from Craigmont H. S., Kingsbury H.S. and Cordova H.S.  The competition consists of 20 positions and for the first time, White Station won all 20 positions.  Cadets went before a panel and was evaluated on Uniform and Appearance, Military Bearing, Speech, JROTC Knowledge, Current Events, Decisiveness and the ability to use Critical Thinking Skills.  
    • Congratulations to Spartan nation basketball programs on last week. Over the weekend, we had a combined six victories. Two from our city champion middle school boys and girls teams. Four victories from our high school programs: three versus central and the biggest upset of the year versus the number one team in Arkansas, Blytheville. Who was undefeated until Spartan nation crossed the bridge. The White Station brand is steadily growing in every aspect.
