Greetings Southwind Elementary Students and Families!
Welcome back to the new school year! Did you do anything exciting? Have you read any good books, seen any good movies? Did you stay cool and hydrated? I hope you had a great summer break and you are ready for an exciting school year. Our focus this school year will be Reading and Writing EVERY DAY in every classroom. We will target this throughout the school year.
I am looking forward to another great year at the best school in MSCS! Our teachers come to Southwind Elementary prepared to activate minds and motivate students to learn and think creatively and critically about their learning. Teachers at Southwind Elementary are masters of their craft and understand the importance of preparing our students for the 21st century and beyond. We will support our students as they grow academically and socially, to ensure that students are making the necessary progress in their academic, cultural, and social growth. Social and Emotional Learning will be taught each week to strengthen students' mental ability to deal with the many changes that have taken place over the last few years.
Our theme this year is “Back to the Basic". We expect all students to learn and grow during each calendar year and "failure is not an option". We expect students to come to school and be engaged in the learning process and prepared for the school day. Lastly, we expect all students to conduct themselves in a respectful manner worthy of being a Southwind Seahawk.
Also, follow the school on Twitter, Instagram, and/or on Facebook.
Come with us as we Learn, Lead, and Leave a Legacy!
