Delano's Student/Teacher/Parent Compact 2024-2025

This compact was developed jointly with parents to outline how the school staff, parents and students will share the responsibility for improving student academic achievement. The school and parents will develop a partnership to help children achieve the State’s high standards.
SCHOOL RESPONSIBILITY
As administrator of Delano Optional School, I will support student learning by striving to do the following:
- Provide a safe, supportive, and effective learning environment that will promote open communication among teachers, parents, students, and administrators and access to staff.
- Make sound educational decisions regarding high-quality curriculum and instruction that will enable students to meet State standards.
- Ensure that the school-parent compact relates to the individual child’s achievement and is discussed during the two annual parent-teacher conferences.
- Teach social skills to promote positive interaction with all.
- Encourage teachers to regularly provide homework assignments that will reinforce classroom instruction.
- Enforce district and school uniform policies.
- Provide multiple/flexible opportunities for parent/teacher conferences to discuss the compact as it relates to an individual child’s achievement.
- Provide time to listen to student concerns.
- Provide time to listen to parent concerns.
- Encourage teachers and students to always respect self, others, and property.
- Encourage teachers and students to have high expectations academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.
- Make expectations widely known when students and parents enter the school doors.
- Maintain open communication with parents (phone calls, conferences, parent meetings, parent visitation).
- Involve parents as assistants in the school’s day-to-day business.
- Help foster a school environment where educators work collaboratively daily so that student achievement is attained at a higher level.
STUDENT AGREEMENT
I will take responsibility for my learning by striving to do the following:
- Come to school each day prepared- with all needed books and supplies.
- Wear uniforms every day.
- Perform at my highest level of learning each day.
- Observe and follow classroom policies and procedures.
- Show respect by following rules and getting along with teachers, staff, and students.
- Do assigned classwork and homework.
- Read at home daily.
- Talk to my teacher or other staff members when I have a problem or concern.
TEACHER AGREEMENT
I will be responsible for supporting student achievement by striving to do the following:
- Provide students with a safe, supportive, and effective environment conducive to learning.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate the different learning styles of students.
- Inform parents of homework and classroom policies and procedures.
- Read to students daily.
- Communicate the progress of each student to the parent on a frequent basis.
- Provide instruction that fosters high academic expectations, provides information, and challenging and exciting class assignments.
- Assign homework that builds on classroom learning.
- Be a model life learner for my students.
- Provide ways parents will be responsible for supporting learning at home.
- Provide opportunities for parents to get involved by volunteering and observing classroom activities.
- Encourage cooperation and participation from students and parents.
PARENT/GUARDIAN AGREEMENT
It is important that I take a more responsible role in helping my child. Therefore, I shall strive to do the following:
- I will be responsible for supporting my child’s learning by striving to do the following:
- Make sure my child gets to school on time each day with the needed supplies.
- Support the school in its effort to maintain discipline.
- Establish a place and time for homework and study, as well as discuss and review homework and monitor television watching.
- Encourage my child’s efforts and be available for questions.
- Communicate with my child’s teacher regularly regarding my child’s progress.
- Provide a library card for my child; read with them and let my child see me read.
- Make certain that my child wears the required uniform and wears it properly.
- Sign progress reports and report cards.
- Encourage my child to be respectable.
- Participate in at least one school-sponsored conference.
- Be active in my child’s learning by attending school-sponsored activities, volunteering, and/or observing my child’s class.
