School Choice Facts

  • Oak Forest accepts School Choice applications for kindergarten students only.

    Students entering first through fifth grade who wish to attend our school need to live in Oak Forest's designated attendance zone or meet our Optional School entrance requirements.

    To enroll as a first or second grade Optional student, students must pass the admittance test and score at or above the 65th percentile in reading and math. In addition, first grade applicants must have satisfactory behavior and achieve mastery in all academic and support subjects on the most recent kindergarten report card.

    Third through fifth grade applicants must score at the 65th percentile on the Fastbridge aReading and aMath assessments; score at/above the 65th percentile on the TCAP TNReady English/Language Arts and TCAP TNReady Mathematics assessments; score at or above the 65th percentile on the NWEA MAP Growth Reading and the NWEA MAP Mathematics assessments; or score at or above the 65th percentile on the Total Reading/Reading Composite and Total Math/Mathematics Composite of an acceptable nationally normed achievement test. Acceptable tests must be dated Spring 2019 or later.

    Second through fifth grade applicants must have a B average or above in all academic subjects and satisfactory grades in special subjects and conduct on their most comprehensive report card.

    All applicants must have satisfactory conduct, skills, behavior, and attendance, including promptness to school, as shown on their most recent report card. Students should not have more than fifteen absences, tardies, or early dismissals for the school year. To remain in the Optional Program, students must maintain a B average in all academic areas, and maintain the entrance requirements of satisfactory conduct, skills and behaviors, academic and support subjects, and attendance.
