Dr. Robert Gordon, Jr. is an alumnus of Memphis-Shelby County Schools and has been serving the parents and students of Shelby County for more than 20 years; with over 24 years' experience in the field of education. Dr. Gordon has served as a teacher, assistant principal and middle school principal as well as adjunct faculty for Southwest Tennessee Community College and Austin Peay State University. Dr. Gordon has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in music education and graduate degrees, including his Master’s degree in Elementary Education, and his Specialist and Doctorate degree in K-12 Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. Dr. Gordon is also an alumnus of New Leaders for New Schools, Leadership Millington, and Memphis Police Department’s Clergy Academy.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             
Dr. Gordon recently served as an administrator at an MSCS high school working with traditional and nontraditional students on the path to future success in college, careers and/or the military. As a middle school principal, Hamilton Middle School was selected as “MEA School of the Year 2009” and Wooddale Middle School moved from TVAAS 1 to 5 and achieved “Level 5” performance in Reading/Language Arts, Math & Overall under his leadership. Dr. Gordon has forged relationships with businesses and community leaders, parents and teachers to empower our scholars to be successful. His mission is to serve the students and families of our community and to provide post-secondary opportunities and workplace readiness for all of our scholars.

Dr. Gordon is married to an MSCS employee and has three(3) beautiful children who all attended Shelby County schools. Dr. Gordon is excited to lead Southwest Career & Technical Center and looks forward to continuing the great legacy that has been established.
