Dr. Marilyn Peete Hilliard

Dr. Marilyn Peete Hilliard is a native Memphian and proud product of Memphis City Schools.  She is an accomplished Administrator with over 15 years of school leadership experience at the middle and high school levels.  Seasoned in project management and academic program development, she served as the founding Principal of Tennessee’s First Public Charter School for Boys – City University School Boys Preparatory.  She was also the Stem Academy Administrator at Southwind High School, a platform school, in the West Tennessee STEM Hub of the Tennessee Stem Innovative Network (TSIN) of which Shelby County Schools is a partner. Dr. Hilliard served as the Principal of East High School prior to her appointment at Memphis Virtual School.  

As a visionary leader committed to accessible, equitable, and quality schooling for all learners, she is humbled by the opportunities provided to teach, serve and advocate for students at the elementary through collegiate levels.  She firmly believes it is crucial for students to experience learning in a virtual environment.  She is committed to providing virtual learning exposure and experiences that prepare students to be global innovators, communicators, collaborators and world class citizens.

Dr. Hilliard earned her doctoral degree from the University of Mississippi, a Master of Education degree from Freed Hardeman University, a Master of Public Administration and Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
