Greetings,

 

It is a pleasure to serve as Vollentine Optional Elementary School’s principal. I am Dr. Crystal S. Watts, and I am a native of Shaw, MS. I have served in education for seventeen years. My past educator experience involves serving as a reading/ language arts teacher, special education instructional resource teacher, instructional facilitator, and assistant principal. This is my seventh year as principal at Vollentine Optional Elementary School. The goal of everything I do in a school is to improve the quality of life that students will experience after high school. I know that if students believe in themselves and their abilities throughout school, they will persevere through challenges and be successful in their adult lives. I believe that my actions today in the elementary setting will help transform the lives of children in the future. I believe that education allows children to achieve personal success and enter the world ready to compete on a global level. This mindset drives my actions each day.

 

As we enter the 2024-2025 school year, I am asking for your support with student attendance. Please be sure that your child attends school each day, on time. Every instructional day counts and we want to ensure that we are maximizing student learning. Please limit early dismissals/ late arrivals to emergency only situations. Again, instructional time is prioritized, and we want to ensure students receive the necessary time for teaching and learning.
