We are a STEM-focused optional school and are uniquely situated near LeMoyne-Owen College. Cummings K-8 Optional can be considered a Pre-K through college school. We are in the perfect location and have a feeder pattern that frequently feeds students into neighboring high schools that offer our students college courses and credits while still in high school.
The Optional Program has a longstanding legacy of excellence in Shelby County. Cummings K-8 Optional offers an Enriched Academics program that focuses highly on STEM principles. Our school provides creative and rigorous coursework and extra-curricular programs led by teachers who inspire and challenge high-performing students to achieve their best.
STUDENT PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES
Cummings has a variety of programs where students can be involved. Students can challenge themselves by being on the debate team, joing the band, or being involved in the afterschool STEM club. Scholars have the opportnity to become members of the National Elementary Honor Society and the National Junior Honor Society. Other extra-curricular activities include: Boys & Girls Basketball, Boys & Girls Track, Choir, Cheerleading, Pom-pom Squad, Debate team, STEM Club, Student Council, and Color Guard.
