ABOUT US

  • Downtown Elementary was established in 2003 as an Enriched Academics optional school within a school that fosters a focus on social studies. Due to our location in downtown Memphis, we are able to be a "living laboratory" in the heart of the city. We take walking field trips to government, historical, and other educational locations that are nearby. We have a diverse student body that allows students to develop an appreciation and understanding of other cultures.

We focus on the four core values of relationships, transparency, accountability and trust when educating and nurturing the whole child. In addition to our rigorous academic curriculum, our students participate in CLUE, Orff music, computer technology, physical education, and art courses. Before and after-school care is provided by the YMCA.

School Choice Facts

  • Students who live within our school attendance zone do not have to submit a school choice application. They can simply register when the early registration period opens for the new school year.

Students who live outside the attendance zone can submit a General School Choice transfer application. Applications are based on available spaces in the school and are processed in the order they are received.
