     Dear Families:

We are excited to share with you a new partnership between our school and the YMCA. Beginning the 2019-2020 school year, we will be switching to the YMCA as our provider for the before and after school program (Y-Care). Below are some of the many benefits of this program and what our families can expect from the Y-Care program:

WHAT TO EXPECT: In order to ensure a smooth transition for your family to Y-Care, we have provided the following basic information:

    • Weekly Fees: There will be no increase to the prices or change in the care options from last year. The Y will provide a high-quality program at the same low weekly fees and offer the same discounts as offered through ELOP.

    • Team Members: Staff from the current program will be hired on by the Y, so you will still see the same familiar faces leading the program. In addition, new team leaders will be joining the current staff to serve more students.

    • Location: Y-Care will operate on our school campus and more specific information to drop off and pick-up locations will be provided once you have registered your child.

    • Program Components: The Y-Care program offers a balanced approach to academics and fun through active learning. To learn more about a typical day or the foundational framework of our programs you can visit our website.

    • Early Registration: Parents do not have to wait to register for the program. Early registration is encouraged, so it is one last thing you have to worry about in preparing for the new school year. REGISTRATION IS CURRENTLY OPEN! To register, visit at www.ymcamemphis.org/shelbycounty.

PROGRAM BENEFITS: Beyond the program, as a partner in education, the Y will be working alongside of our school to provide additional resources and support for everyone in our school.

    • Year-Round Care: We understand the program serves many working families, so When School is out, the Y is in! The Y will provide care on school holidays, breaks, snow days, half days, and even during the summer.

    • Academic Alignment: The program model and curriculum is specifically aligned with our school and district priorities for the common vision of preparing students for success in learning, leadership, and life.

    • Access for All: As a leading non-profit in our community, the Y will not turn away a family because of a financial hardship. Families can apply for financial assistance to ensure that care is affordable for all.

    • Enrichment Programs: The Y will offer enrichment programs for both children enrolled in the program and to any student within our school. School administrators will work with the Y to select enrichment programs, but some of the options are dance, karate, sports, and more.

    • Tutoring Program: The Y is partnering with the school to provide additional academic support and tutoring to the school community. Tutoring will begin in October and will be available to all students who need additional support.

This partnership is exciting for our entire school community! For more information or questions, please visit the website at www.ymcamemphis.org/shelbycounty or call the Y-Care Family Support Center at 901-505-0959.
