What Is Medical District High School?
In August 2021, Memphis Shelby County Schools opened Medical District High School to eligible incoming 9th graders. Medical District High School is an early college high school located on the Southwest Tennessee Community College campus on Union Avenue in Memphis, TN.
What Is An Early College High School?
An early college high school program allows students to earn a high school diploma and a college associate degree by the 12th grade. Students will earn at least 60 college credit hours.
What Degree Programs Are Offered At Medical District?
In conjunction with Southwest Tennessee Community College, Medical District High School offers two different degree pathways.
- Information Systems
- Health Sciences Emphasis

Do Students Attend Classes With College Students?
Medical District High School has a predetermined academic plan. Students may take college courses with other college students at the upper-grade levels.
Does The Degree Transfer To Universities?
Health Science A.S. and Information Systems A.S. are part of the Tennessee Transfer Pathways program, which guarantees that the degree earned will be transferred to some public and private universities in Tennessee to complete a bachelor's degree.
Public Universities in Tennessee that will accept transferred credits towards a four-year bachelor's degree:

Note: Many colleges across the state and outside of Tennessee will allow the transfer of the majority of the credit hours.
What Are The Entry Requirements?
Medical District High School is for students in grades 9-12. Students must enter the program at the beginning of 9th grade and must meet the entrance requirements as follows:
- Scores on the TCAP Exam of Met/Exceeded Expectations for both English Language Arts and Mathematics or
- Scores on the TCAP Exam of Met/Exceeded Expectations for either English Language Arts or Mathematics and Approaching Expectations for either English Language Arts or Mathematics
- 75 average in all courses on Q3 & Q4 of 7th grade report card
- 75 average in all courses on Q1 & Q2 of 8th grade report card

Apply to Medical District High School through the Choice Transfer Application process.
Is Transportation Provided by Memphis Shelby County Schools?
We are a Choice Transfer School. Transportation is not provided by MSCS. Transportation is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
What Are School Hours?
School hours are from 8:15 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.
