    We would like to provide virtual field trip opportunities that you can enjoy as a family! These trips are interactive web-based experiences that guide students and families through an exploration of various places around the world!  Virtual field trips are not only fun and exciting, they help to boost reading comprehension skills, expose our students to different cultures and environments and are a great way to experience a variety of wonderful places!

    5...4...3...2...1...BLAST OFF! Our seventh virtual field trip we will be traveling out of this world...literally, as we head to Mars! 

    May is for MARS!!!!! We are super excited to travel all the way to the red planet, Mars. Access Mars will allow you and your family to explore a 3D replica of the Martian surface as it was recorded by the Curiosity rover. Use the surface map to jump quickly from site to site while checking out all the cool info in the process.

     Our sixth virtual field trip we will be traveling all the way to Mexico to visit Museo de Arte Moderno!

    The Museum of Modern Art was founded in 1964 on the initiative of President Adolfo López Mateos with the aim of preserving and disseminating Mexican art from the 1930s. The Museum has 4 rooms and three galleries, and among its collection are pieces by artists such as Frida. Kahlo, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Emir Jair, Roberto Montenegro, José Clemente Orozco, Louis Henri Jean Charlot, Juan Soriano, Juan O'Gorman, Diego Rivera, among others.

    Our fifth virtual field trip we will be heading back up to Washington, D.C. to visit the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History! 

    The National Museum of Natural History’s virtual experiences are self-guided, room-by-room tours of permanent, current, and past exhibits.

    Make sure to visit the second floor Bone Hall so you can take a look at all different kinds of skeletons. Take advantage of the map as you tour to quickly travel from exhibit to exhibit, or make the tour more fun and walk the museum using the arrows on the floor.

    Our fourth virtual field trip we will be traveling all the way to the west coast to see the beautiful animals at the San Diego Zoo!

    Their site includes behind-the-scenes videos and stories, as well as a variety of printable activities and online games. Explore all the site has to offer through the tabs at the top, you can play games, create crafts, and learn about saving the animals.

    Our third virtual field trip we will have the opportunity to explore the International Space Station with NASA's help and the help of some of their astronauts!

    Check out the guided tours, space station images, and videos all in one place. There are also some cool STEM on Station learning opportunities.     • Pre-K thru 1st grade Virtual Field Trip Activity - Draw a picture of you and your family in to outer space or enjoying time on the space station. Be creative. Share a picture of your creation on our PVE Facebook page using the hashtag #PVEtakesNASA. Have a great time in space!
    • 2nd Grade -5th Grade Virtual Field Trip Activity - Create a story about you and your family or friends taking a trip to the International Space Station. Be creative and use your imagination and what you learn from the virtual field trip to write your narrative. Include the important elements of a story that you have learned: a setting, characters, plot(beginning, middle, end) problem and solution.  After writing  your story, create a video reading your short story and post it to our Facebook page using the hashtag #PVEtakesNASA. Have fun in space!

    Our second virtual field trip is to The Pink Palace Museum here in Memphis, TN!

    This week we won't travel far, but that just means the fun is close to home. We will visit museums on the go at the Pink Palace. Take time to enjoy the featured planetarium movie, The Sun, Our Living Star. 

    Afterwards, try one of the cool at home actvities by clicking here!  You can even learn to create your own home theatre with the things around the house.

    Our first virtual field trip is to The National Aquarium in Washington, DC.

    We have also included the live web cams at the Georgia Aquarium because they are super cool to watch! CLICK TO WATCH! 

    After taking the field trip with your family, please share your favorite part with us by completing the activity for your grade from below.

    • Pre- K -Kindergarten: Draw a picture of your favorite animal exhibit.
    • 1st - 2nd grade: Make a picture collage of all the interesting animals and exhibits you viewed with your family. Write one to three sentences to summarize what you saw.
    • 3rd - 5th grade: Create a habitat for one animal you saw at the aquarium inside a shoe box. Be creative and colorful. Make a video explaining what you did to create your shoe box habitat diorama.
