Greetings Central High Freshman Academy Parents and Students!
On behalf of the faculty, staff, and student body, we want to welcome you and your child to Central High School. We are pleased that you are joining us this school year. We promise to do everything we can to make your transition into high school a smooth one.
Our Freshman Academy is designed to assist students in making a successful transition from middle school to high school. Physically located on the 3rd floor, freshmen are placed in a structured, nurturing environment with a team of core teachers for their academic classes. Students also take elective classes outside of the Academy. Students are provided with several tools to ensure their success, which include academic tutoring.
Our goals in the Freshman Academy include increasing student accountability to strengthen academic and social engagement, increasing involvement in extracurricular activities, increasing positive and responsible behavior, increasing our daily attendance rate, increasing proficiency on all assessments, and increasing our 4-year graduation rate. We are extremely excited to have such a strong group of freshmen. The faculty, staff, and administration at Central High School are dedicated to ensuring students not only gain the academic, social, and career skills necessary to succeed in today’s challenging world, but to become creative thinkers and innovative problem solvers of the future.
We are here to support you and your child in every way possible. Please feel free to contact us whenever you have a concern about your child. You may call me at the numbers above or e-mail me at parkerblackmonmi@scsk12.org.
Best wishes for a successful year!
Minnie Parker-Blackmon,
Freshman Academy Principal
