Mr. Deartis Barber, III

Greetings parents, students, faculty, staff, and friends of Grandview Heights Middle School. I pray all of you are doing well by remaining safe and remaining calm during this unfamiliar period of time. I also encourage our students, faculty, and staff as well as all others finding themselves in an interrupted routine to take this time to rest, relax, and reset. Panic and paranoia don't produce anything positive or productive.

Greetings Grandview Heights Middle School students, families, and friends. I would like to welcome everyone to the 2020-2021 School Year. Due to the complications related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we ended last school year early and have returned this school year, virtually. Although our return this school year is like no other return we have ever experienced, we remain committed to ensuring we do our best in providing an educational experience that propels our students’ learning forward. We call this our COVID-19 Comeback. For our students and families, it's the continuation of a journey that leads to a destiny of prosperity.

The Grandview Heights Middle School faculty stands at the intersection of Standards Instruction and Educational Equity advocating as anti-racist change agents using education. We realize the most potent weapon we can levy against institutional racism is our unswerving and uncompromising commitment to ensure that quality and relevant instruction confront the negative and damaging educational realities our students have endured for years.

Black Minds Matter! And, we are dedicated to developing all Black minds by achieving Adequate Daily Progress to close the growing gaps that have been reported regardless of the adjectives used to describe them such as Achievement Gap, Opportunity Gap, etc. COVID-19 is actual.
