Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Amy-Beth Rice

Originally from Springfield, Missouri, Amy-Beth Rice received her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Arts in Teaching from Memphis College of Art and is currently based in Memphis. Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in galleries throughout the Midwest and Midsouth.

As she embraces both of her roles as a professional artist and as a classroom teacher, Amy-Beth has held community mural workshops, exhibited work, given talks, and taught painting classes in libraries, independent living facilities, churches, and universities in the region. She has had the pleasure of partnering with organizations such as the UrbanArt Commission, MemFix, River Arts Fest, Hilton, and Borderless Arts Tennessee to create art opportunities for young people and adults. After four years of being a full-time artist, Amy-Beth returned to the classroom in 2018 to teach in the arts-based optional school, Overton High School. Currently, she seeks to balance her passion for art education, private art classes, and creating personal work all while attempting to maintain the regular rhythms of life.

From the teacher:

I look forward to working with this year's group of students and helping them reach their full potential in artistic skill and creative thinking. Whether its dance, art, theatre, or music; the desire to create is a human impulse. You may not have the goal of going into a creative field, but the skill of creative thinking will benefit you in whichever path you choose in life. My class will teach you to think creatively, develop a growth mindset, and hopefully enjoy expressing yourself as you grow in your artistic abilities and knowledge.
