Ms. Patrice Carter

My name is Patrice Carter, and I am the International Baccalaureate Optional Schools Coordinator at Ridgeway IB Middle World Optional School.

At Ridgeway IB Middle World Optional School, all our students are taught in an inquiry-based classroom environment that supports and develops critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. These skills are taught and implemented daily through an Approaches to Learning model.  This model is composed of skills deemed critical for IB students' success in school, life, and their futures. The Middle Years Programme (MYP) is a challenging educational framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world.

We aim to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who are motivated to succeed.  Students at Ridgeway IB Middle World Optional School study eight subject group areas: Language Acquisition, Language and Literature, Individuals and Societies, Mathematics, Sciences, Arts, Physical and Health Education, and Design.

We focus on international perspectives of teaching and learning while supporting our students' understanding of their own culture and language.  This is done through instruction that includes key and related concepts and global context that connect our students' thinking to the real-world. Our IB program develops learners who are: Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-minded, Caring, Risk-takers, Balanced, and Reflective.

Students are at the heart of our IB Program, and we look forward to serving and supporting their learning endeavors daily.
