Hello and welcome to Ridgeway IB Middle World Optional School. I am Patrice Carter the IB/Optional Schools Coordinator.
I would like to share with you a brief overview of our Middle Years Programme. At Ridgeway IB Middle World Optional School, all our students are taught in an inquiry-based classroom environment that supports and develops critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. These skills are taught and implemented daily through an Approaches to Learning model. This model is composed of skills deemed critical for the success of IB students in school, life, and their futures.
We aim to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who are motivated to succeed. Students at Ridgeway IB Middle World Optional School study eight subject areas which include: Language Acquisition, Language and Literature, Individuals and Societies, Mathematics, Sciences, Arts, Physical and Health Education, and Design.
We focus on the international perspective of teaching and learning while supporting our students' understanding of their own culture and language. This is done through instruction that includes key and related concepts and global contexts that connect our students' thinking to the real-world.
Our IB program also develops learners who are: Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-minded, Caring, Risk-takers, Balanced, and Reflective.
Lastly, our students are at the heart of our IB program, and we look forward daily to supporting our students as they continue their educational journey.
